A great weekend indeed!

So began our weekend, bright and early Saturday morning. We took a 2 hour drive down to Macon Ga and arrived at the Cherry Blossom festival. Dad entered Denver and I both in the Disc Dog competition, being held by the GADDC-which we are members of. Anyways...the folks had lots of stuff to unpack from the truck once we got there, so Dad unpacked the crate first to put us in so he could unload everything else. This is Dens hammin' it up for the camera...

And then Dad got out a soft crate for Dens. Ronnie, a friend of Dad's, let him borrow this one so he could try it out and decide if he wanted to buy one of his own or not. Obviously, I'm too rambunctious for this softy, so it was Denver's for the day. Or so we thought...

We had a nice little setup for the day with lots o' shade (no pun intended :))Our tent was set up right at the starting sideline of the field. We had a great view and there was a great turn out of participants and onlookers.

Noon finally arrived, and the competition was beginning. I was set to go third. Dad got me out of my crate, Denver stayed in his to observe how it was done, and Mom grabbed the camera! The announcer called...' Clay Farmer and Shade please'...that was it, we were up. We just had to make it to the top 10 so we could advance to round 2. Out to the field we went. It was such a nice day, and I was definitely focused.

Dad threw my first couple of frisbees and all was going good. Mom was snapping away on the sidelines.

A lady then called to her...
'your dog!'

'yep, thats him'

'no, he's on the field...'

'huh?!?'

'your OTHER dog! he's loose...'

'OH! uh oh?!?!?'

Denver had BUSTED OUT of his crate and was loose, headed straight towards Dad and I. What a great way to start the competition! Mom came running out and with Dad's help got a hold of him and took him off field. After that, they resumed my run.

I still scored a 37 out of 40! Not shabby, I must say :)

So after that, Dens and I got to share a crate for the rest of the day, Dad acquired a busted soft crate and is out about $60.

Dad's new crate...

Here are a few shots of Dens' run...

And then back to our cozy den (once again, no pun intended :)) to await the results of round 1.

I made it to the top 10, which meant on to round 2! Denver will make it in the top 10 next time, this was his first time out...just a warm up.

So more waiting...

And finally some pics from round two...

And we took home 4th! Not too bad. Of course, I don't care where we place...I just love going out there! Can't wait until the next one!

..............................

Today we went to Red top Mountain to hit up some trails and take a dip in the lake, one of my favorites! Here are a few snapshots...

We then went to the park to meet Kona and Caligirl! I know I know. We DID get to do a lot this weekend :) It was great. We are pooped and should sleep all day tomorrow! Time to eat some dinner. Hope you enjoy the pics!
